The album Asterix in Corsica is a gallery of regional types that Uderzo caricatured with affection: drooping mustaches, shirts open on the chest, island honor screwed to the body. Pixi brought several of these figures together in the scene, each head hand-painted with the distinctive details: the skin tone, the stubble, the expressions of polite distrust or open hostility.
Hand-painted metal recreates these facial nuances on a scale where resin would struggle. The skin tones are different between the characters, the clothes distinct in their colors, the accessories treated in relief.
