Pixi, painted metal figurines from Franco-Belgian comics

Pixi is a French house founded in the 1980s which maintained hand-painted metal as its main material when the vast majority of publishers switched to resin. This technical choice explains the density and weight of the pieces, their fine detail on a small scale, and their ability to hold several characters on the same base without growing disproportionately.

Each Pixi series is produced in an advertised print run, delivered with the characteristic red box and numbered certificate. Once stock is exhausted, production does not resume. The print runs vary between 200 and 1000 copies depending on the collection and the period: the first Smurfs waves (2012) at 1000, the most recent Blake and Mortimer scenes at 200.
