Arumbaya fetish from the Imaginary Museum: the idol with the broken ear
This Imaginary Museum version of the Arumbaya fetish is a statuette which treats the tribal idol as a presence in volume rather than as a reproduction of an object. The broken ear, a fundamental detail in the plot of The Broken Ear, is precisely reproduced on the resin: the outline of the break, the color of the old wood simulated by the paint, the scarifications or tribal ornaments in the style that Hergé had documented.
It is not the same piece as the fetish from the Les Icônes line: the Musée Imaginaire treats the idol as a character in its own right in the album, not as a decorative object.
