The Unicorn, the three-master at the heart of two albums
The model of the Unicorn is the object that sets off the whole plot of The Secret of the Unicorn. The three-master of the Knight François de Hadoque, with its unicorn figurehead and three rows of gunports, is probably the most reproduced setting in Hergé's work.
The Imaginary Museum resin version follows the rigging as it appears in the panels: bare masts, yards and ratlines, with no sails. Hand painting brings out the brown of the hull, the red of the bulwarks, the gilding of the figurehead and the bowsprit. The whole rests on a red wooden cradle, itself sitting on the base of the piece.

Few objects in Franco-Belgian comics are so immediately identifiable. The Unicorn works as a Tintin collectible and as a ship model in equal measure.
