Pixi El Padre, 275 copies: the black cassock in war
El Padre is represented in his black Catholic priest's cassock, the rosary in one hand, the expression of the priest who goes through battles as if they did not concern him. Lambil always drew him with this impassivity which contrasts with the chaos around him. The hand-painted metal restores the deep black of the cassock, the white of the Roman collar, the ocher hue of the skin.
The black cassock on a white metal background is the main painting challenge of this piece: reproducing the black without killing the relief of the fabric, leaving the folds visible, keeping the depth of the shadow areas.
